2013 U.I.A.A Open North American Championships

UIAA_4c_port_posThe 2013 U.I.A.A. Open North American Ice Climbing Championships, December 14-15, presented by Lowa Boots and Voke Tab, will feature an Saturday afternoon preliminary in Lead Difficulty on our unique “Ice Breaker Tower” featuring Olympic-caliber athletes from the US, Canada and Europe. Saturday night we will reconvene under the bright lights of downtown Bozeman with Lead Difficulty Finals. On Sunday afternoon we will hold the Open North American Speed Climbing Championships. Conducted in a fast-paced elimination style, this event is thrilling for the participants and spectators alike!

 

A massive three-tower climbing structure will be erected outside in the Emerson Park as part of our new 2-day “Urban Base Camp” offering a full weekend of food, in-town climbing clinics, family fun centered around the U.I.A.A. Open North American Ice Climbing Championship Saturday, December 14 through Sunday, December 15th.

You won’t want to miss the opportunity to witness for yourself what this highly-anticipated and much-talked-about Olympic Ice Climbing movement is all about. Renowned mountaineer and neighbor Conrad Anker will be your host and Competition Director.

*The Lead competition between the qualifier and final will have routes that are set in the M9 to M12 range.  Sign up at your own discretion.

Lead Difficulty, both Men and Women
Champion: $1,000 US
Runner Up: $500 US
Consolation: $250 US

Speed Climbing, both Men and Women
Champion: $750 US

Runner Up: $500 US
3rd & 4th: $200 US each

7:00 am to 8:00 am MST – Report for Lead Difficulty, Emerson Ballroom
8:00 am to 3:00 pm MST – Preliminary Qualifiers for Lead Difficulty (35 competitors allowed), Emerson Lawn
6:00 pm MST – Report to Finals Isolation (top 15), Emerson Ballroom
7:00 pm to 10:00 pm MST – Lead Difficulty UIAA Open North American Championship Final, Emerson Lawn
Award Ceremony to immediately follow

Sunday, December 15
9:00 am MST – Posting of heats for Speed Climbing, warming tent, Emerson Lawn
