2013 Schedule

17th Annual Bozeman Ice Climbing Festival
December 11-15, 2013

Registrations open October 1 at 6:00 pm M.S.T. for our Hyalite On-Ice clinics.

Space is limited so be sure sign up early!

Information and schedule for the U.I.A.A. Open North American Championships and Urban Base Camp will be posted separately.

Every night in the Emerson we proudly offer appetizer specials provided by the Emerson Grill and Emerson Grill North. And new for 2013, beer courtesy of Alaskan Brewing. Purchase a commemorative BIF pint glass and free refills the rest of the Fest! Proceeds go toward the Hyalite road plowing fund.

The Bozeman Ice Festival is proud to announce our partnership with Bozeman-based, Polar Bear International to bring you HD live-streaming of the entire Arc’teryx Bozeman Ice Festival and U.I.A.A. North American Championships. Stay tuned for more details and broadcast schedule.

Throughout the Festival be sure to check out the Black Diamond booth in the Emerson Ballroom and at the Urban Base Camp. This is the only place you’ll be able to buy tickets for the Black Diamond Stoke Raffle. Now in it’s third season, this is your chance to win the whole kit-and-kaboodle of gear needed to be an ice climber. That’s right! Black Diamond is supplying all the hard goods and clothing required to outfit your passion for blue plastic and scratchy veneer! Ropes from Sterling, sunglasses from Julbo and boots from Asolo. Location: Gallatin National Forest, Hyalite Canyon. Climbing at Genesis I, Genesis II, Mummy II/Scepter and Unnamed Wall.

5:00 pm to 7:30 pm: Demo Gear Check Out for Friday Women-Only Ice Climbing Clinic
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm: Demo Gear Check Out for General Public – Credit Card Required
Location: Emerson Ballroom. 111 South Grand, on the corner of Grand & Babcock, one block off Main St.

7:45 pm to 8:00 pm: Special guest Doug Chabot, Director of the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center, will discuss Hyalite Canyon, ice climbing and avalanches.
8:00 pm to 9:00 pm: Special Presentation by Ines Papert, presented by Arc’teryx.
Admission: $15 for public, free to ALL On-Ice Clinic participants.

Location: Gallatin National Forest, Hyalite Canyon. Climbing at Genesis I, Genesis II, Mummy II/Scepter and Unnamed Wall.

10:00 am to 4:00 pm: Master’s Clinics at the Urban Base Camp. You won’t want to miss this unique opportunity to engage and learn from the true masters of our sport. This will be your opportunity to climb and be coached on the same structure as the North American Championships. More details coming soon!

5:00 pm to 7:30 pm: Demo Gear Check Out for Saturday On-Ice Climbing Clinics.

5:00 pm to 7:30 pm: Demo Gear Check Out for Sunday On-Ice Climbing Clinics.

6:30 pm: Opening Ceremonies featuring a Native American powwow.

7:00 pm to 9:30 pm: Finals of the U.I.A.A. Open North American Championship Lead Difficulty. Free to the public

5:00 pm to 6:30 pm: Aprés-climb party and appetizers in the Emerson Lobby presented by The Emerson Grill. Free to the public.
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm:Sunday Wrap Party and Legendary Gear Raffle.The Emerson Grill will serve their spectacular Penne and meatballs. Special speakers and full program to be announced soon!
Location: Emerson Ballroom. 111 South Grand, on the corner of Grand & Babcock, one block off Main St.
Admission: $15 available at the Emerson throughout the festival. Seating is limited. Gear raffle to support road plowing in Hyalite Canyon. Tons of prizes and hanging with like-minded ice fiends.

9:00 pm: Special VIP chooses the winner of the one-of-a-kind Black Diamond Stoke Raffle! See who shows up naked and leaves an ice climber! Not to be missed.
